Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: APOLLO STAR(1)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

APOLLO STAR is versatile and has the best credentials in this opening contest. He finished runner-up in a strong field over seven furlongs recently and can go one better here.

Race 2: OH SUSANNA(13)
Jockey: Bernard FAYD’HERBE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

OH SUSANNA was fancied when she made a promising debut over this c & d earlier this month. The daughter of Street Cry recovered from a slow start to show pace before being outrun late into 2nd that day. She finished just over one length in front of EVIE’S LIGHT that day but should have lots more to offer and she meets the latter on 2.5kgs better terms. The inmate from the Snaith camp should give a great account of herself.

Race 4: ARCTIC GREEN(2)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

This is a very competitive start to the jackpot but the value could lie with the daughter of Gimmethe- greenlight, ARCTIC GREEN. She has had enough chances but showed up well after returning from a long absence. She clearly found ten furlongs beyond her last time and will relish today’s distance. The slight worry is that she races without blinkers.

Race 6: EVOKE EMOTION(6)

Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

This is another highly competitive handicap but this time for fillies and mares over seven furlongs. EVOKE EMOTION is a doubtful starter as she was carded to race at this venue last Saturday but she would be a lively threat if taking her place. She finished strongly for a close 4th behind start to finish winner COLOUR MAGIC over a mile recently despite finding major traffic issues. This shorter trip is a slight concern but she is 1kg better off with her conqueror for that 1.05 lengths defeat and the pace may be hotter this time around. It is most encouraging that top jockey Fourie keeps faith with the daughter of Dynasty.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: BLUE DOOR(4)

Jockey: Corne ORFFER – Trainer: Eric SANDS

This is a highly competitive marathon handicap where an upset in the form of proven stayer BLUE DOOR could be on the cards. The inmate from the Eric Sands yard lost his way earlier this campaign but benefitted from the long break and showed good progress over much shorter last time out. He was making eye-catching late headway over the mile in a strong field and now has his peak showing over an ideal distance. Of course he shed his maiden certificate in his only c & d appearance.
