CHEPSTOW BEST BETS

Race 5: No1 – ASTAPOR
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand

Sixties Icon colt ASTAPOR has put in some good work with a recent winner ahead of this debut. He knows his job and although lacking previous experience needs close inspection in the betting market. Furthermore, jockey Marquand is enjoying a hot streak and booted home another Channon juvenile scorer last week.

Race 6: No5 – PAWS FOR THOUGHT
Trainer: Tom Dascombe – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

PAWS FOR THOUGHT made a pleasing debut in what looked a warm heat at Newbury and is expected to be all the better with that experience under his belt. The winner First Prophet is well regarded, while the colt should find this a shade less hot and open his account.

DONCASTER BEST BETS

Race 1: No3 – DIGITAL
Trainer: Kevin Ryan – Jockey: Kevin Stott

DIGITAL was easy to back on debut at Newcastle but shaped with a deal of promise in chasing home Victory Heights. Like many of the juveniles from this stable, the son of Kodi Bear will move forward for that outing and has the speed and know how to get the job done.

Race 6: No10 – DALANIJUJO
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Ben Curtis

With course winning form to her name, DALANIJUJO is fancied to go well on this seasonal reappearance in an admittedly warm looking handicap. The chestnut has done plenty of conditioning work and is tight and fully fit for this first outing in nine months. After her successful debut here she was highly tried in a Group 3 at Newmarket and a very warm fillies’ race at Newbury, won by Quadrilateral. Whatever happens today, she’s a filly to follow.

Race 7: No3 – PRINCE IMPERIAL
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Louis Steward

PRINCE IMPERIAL hails from a stable that’s done well with its three-year-old colts and this son of Frankel is worth close inspection in spite of carrying a penalty for his Chelmsford success last autumn. That heralded a big step up from a debut run at Newbury in which he’d finished last. The application of a visor made a telling difference and the headgear is retained for this seasonal comeback.

Race 10: No4 – SINGLE
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Ben Curtis

SINGLE has a shot at ending the winning sequence of Revolver who carries a 6lb penalty for his narrow success last week. The selection should be cherry ripe after two outings since the resumption of racing, latterly chasing home Lyrical at Newmarket. She’s earned in four of her six career starts, and for a daughter of Nathaniel out of a Thunder Gulch mare the so far elusive first success is an important obstacle to overcome.

LEICESTER BEST BETS

Race 4: No7 – DECONSO (Each Way)
Trainer: Christopher Kellett – Jockey: Sam Hitchcott

There’s no doubt that DECONSO is more effective on an all-weather surface, but with an eye taking third at Haydock behind him he’s in a good place to notch a first career win on turf. His racing style demands everything to go right, but a strong pace looks likely in this, which should enable him to arrive late on the scene.

MUSSELBURGH BEST BETS

Race 7: No4 – LITTLE TED
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

LITTLE TED has a score to settle with Moonlighting from their meeting earlier in the month. The former finished more than six lengths adrift but has gone on to score convincingly at Thirsk. At the revised weights there shouldn’t be much between the pair, but Little Ted will probably offer better value.
