JUST A JET was disappointing when she finished a well beaten 3rd over this c & d second time out but top jockey Weichong Marwing knows her better and that could be the difference. Of course, this pairing teamed up to great effect when the four-year old filly produced a top class debut over this distance at the Vaal prior to that despite losing considerable ground at the start. She certainly has plenty of room for improvement and meets an ordinary line-up.

LADY ON FIRE has the best credentials in this very weak line-up and the chestnut mare’s only career win came over this c & d. She handled the massive penalty well when going close last time out and can go one better tonight. Top jockey Khumalo has been engaged.

Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK
FAREEQ is a gutsy type who fought back hard despite racing right up with the speed in a fast run last event over this trip at the Vaal. The Mike de Kock inmate clearly escaped with just the minimum two pound penalty and he undoubtedly has plenty more to offer. The imported gelding will be cherry-ripe tonight and he has experience under the lights. He should go very close on his track debut.

COUNTESS NABEELA wasn’t given the smartest ride last time but her same jockey gets the chance to make amends tonight. The improving bay filly was having her first outing around the turn that day and she has further scope for progress. She had a most encouraging penultimate showing over tonight’s trip behind a highly rated sort. The daughter of Count Dubois is the stable’s only entrant on the card.
