UK Racing Best Bets – Tuesday 22 October 2019

Tuesday 22 October 2019

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from UK Racing at Exeter, Kempton, Newcastle and Yarmouth on Tuesday 22 October.

Exeter Best Bets

Race 3: THEGOAHEADMAN (5)
Trainer: Jessica Harrington
Jockey: Robbie Power

On a rare excursion to the West Country from Ireland, Jessie Harrington’s THEGOAHEADMAN is begging to be backed to endorse the promise of his success at Downpatrick back in May. He left previous efforts behind that day and should be just as effective stepping up to three miles.he faces several in form rivals but has surely not travelled over for the goodness of his health ?

Race 5: SOUTHFIELD STONE (2)
Trainer: Paul Nicholls
Jockey: Harry Cobden

Multiple hurdles scorer SOUTHFIELD STONE has taken beautifully to fences at home and could be on of the top novice chasers from his powerful stable. In spite of not being by any means the finished article he hardly put a foot wrong last season, all the more pleasing for connections who know his end game has always been as a chaser. He can take this on the way to better things.

Kempton Best Bets

Race 4: RAAEB (2)
Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor
Jockey: Jim Crowley

This looks a good opportunity for RAAEB to get back into the winner’s enclosure. The colt impressed on his Doncaster introduction but when upgraded at Newmarket had no answer to the talented Kinross. Starting favourite in a big field he tried to lead throughout but was swamped by his rival who scored by eight lengths. It will be astonishing if there’s anything of the same calibre taking him on today.

Race 6: ICONIC KNIGHT (8)
Trainer: Ed Walker
Jockey: Hector Crouch

The current well being of ICONIC KNIGHT is mirrored by three good efforts in defeat on each of his last three outings. He’s done nothing wrong and is totally genuine, and spoiled his chance at Ascot last time by running freely in the early stages. If settling he can serve it up to his rivals, of whom Total Commitment looks the main threat.

Newcastle Best Bets

Race 4: HAMISH MACBETH (2)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer
Jockey: Ben Curtis

In a cracking heat HAMISH MACBETH can beat Desert Safari. The selection went for a Sales race at the Curragh in his bid to complete a hat-trick but mis timed his run after being given plenty to do and in a blanket failed by just over a neck to catch Stone Circle. This big, powerful individual has trained well since that foray overseas and can regain the winning thread.

Race 7: BURTONWOOD (12)
Trainer: Julie Camacho
Jockey: James Sullivan

Track specialist BURTONWOOD put in a rare poor run at Catterick last time when unsuited by six furlongs. Now back in his comfort zone over the minimum, he can make an impact at rewarding odds and gain compensation for some near misses earlier in the season.

Yarmouth Best Bets

Race 3: TOO BIG TO FAIL (8)
Trainer: Mark Johnson
Jockey: John Egan

TOO BIG TO FAIL was given a sympathetic time on her Nottingham introduction. She kept on well in the testing ground to post a frame finish and has any amount of improvement in her.her trainer appears to have found a good opportunity for her, even though there are a number of well related newcomers in opposition.

Race 4: WESTBROOK BERTIE (5)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Scott McCullough

Always best when returning from a break, WESTBROOK BERTIE put in some sterling work at the business end of an identical race at Nottingham a fortnight ago and will revel in the heavy underfoot conditions. He’s a fresh horse compared to the majority of his rivals and his cause his boosted by a capable 5lb apprentice in the saddle, who knows him well.
