Race 1: CLAREMORRIS(3)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Roy MAGNER

The Roy Magner stable has a strong hand in this opening event with two top jockeys engaged aboard their pairing of CLAREMORRIS and PRINCESS ROCHELLE. The former is the first pick, courtesy of her good last run over an extra furlong on the classic track. She has been quietly fancied in the betting market in all three career runs, indicating that she has shown the yard good work back home. The daughter of Visionaire challenged strongly for a close 3rd last time and the runner-up Orchid Island boosted that formline with a smashing subsequent victory. Jockey Gavin Lerena’s mount has scope for improvement and she should cope with the minimum trip if jumping on terms. Her stablemate made some improvement when finishing 4th behind subsequent winner Ektifaa second time out and she can build on that showing.Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: REBEL TO THE FORE(1)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

REBEL TO THE FORE
missed her entire three-year-old campaign, possibly due to an injury, but her top class conditioner is renowned for bringing them back well. The Rebel King filly showed her class in two excellent juvenile performances and she merits huge respect in her comeback run. She is best in at the weights on official ratings and is the stable elect.

Race 5: PERSIAN APPROVAL(8)

Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Michael AZZIE

PERSIAN APPROVAL continues to be ultra-consistent and his conditioner may have found the ‘perfect’ race for him to claim that deserved first career victory. The Mike Azzie trained gelding only got going late after being slow into stride last time but that formline could be worth following. The three-year old gelding will appreciate this longer run-in and Hewitson knows him well.

Top Bet

Race 7: BOLD REX(5)

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

The day’s topliner features a competitive eight horse field which may be run at a false pace. That will suit the three-year old, BOLD REX, who is the top selection. Trainer Mike de Kock’s charge is a decent and progressive type who quickened in smart fashion to beat a similar field over a mile, three weeks ago. The son of Bold Silvano was upped four pounds for the victory but he should handle today’s extra furlong and clearly has more to offer. The likely sedate gallop could play right into his hands and Muzi Yeni retains the ride.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 8: TRIP TO PARADISE(3)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN – Trainer: Coenie DE BEER

There are quite a few frontrunners in this competitive low-key handicap and the likely solid gallop will play into the hands of the top selection TRIP TO PARADISE. The four-year-old gelding often produces an explosive late burst and he has smart credentials. He finished close-up behind Trip To Troy (runs in prior race) over a mile recently and is equally effective over this c & d. The Trippi gelding is his stable’s only representative on the day and he could be the right one.
