The Australian import BRAZUCA looks a high class individual in the making and he finished runner-up in both his feature runs to date. He produced a powerful finish when pipped in a Grade 1 over seven furlongs at Greyville last time and would have strengthened during another break. He could have some issues but is clearly top class and races in maiden company for the first time. The Teofilo colt should take a power of beating.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: DAVID Nieuwenhuizen
The three-year old SAPSAN is consistent and she showed plenty of class as a juvenile last term. She would have strengthened during her ten week absence and could train on into a top quality sort. The daughter of Lateral will be severely tested on her handicap debut in open company today but she still has plenty to offer and is the one to beat. She produced a cracking effort in a Grade 1 over this trip at Greyville under ‘Striker’ last time out. She will receive plenty of competition from the older rivals and LOVE TO SAIL is the pick of those.

INTERGALACTIC is a smart chestnut filly who showed lots of promise on Greyville’s polytrack in three career efforts to date. It was sad that she was withdrawn when carded to make her Gauteng debut last Tuesday due to no transport being available. However, that is behind her now and the daughter of Kahal thrashed a subsequent winner en route to her maiden victory over a mile, second time out. She wasn’t given the smartest of rides but recovered eye-catchingly to finish a creditable 5th in her post maiden run over this distance last time out. She is way above-average and is certainly one to follow during the Gauteng season. She has bright claims on her handicap and track debut. The older guard could pose the main threat, albeit they are limited.
Race 10: FROSTY FRIDAY(5)
Jockey: Ian STURGEON – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL
FROSTY FRIDAY found outside betting support on her debut over seven furlongs on this track, five weeks ago. The well-bred daughter of Western Winter ran on eye-catchingly for a close 4th, beaten just two lengths at the wire that day and she should make natural improvement. The Van Zyl inmate will relish the rise to the mile and she can stake a serious claim.

A WOMAN’S WILL found longshot betting support when she produced a fair c & d debut, three weeks ago and she would have benefitted from the experience. The Mike Azzie inmate showed lots of speed before tiring late into 5th and should make natural improvement.
