Race 2: CAPTAIN OF TORTUGA(2)
Jockey: S BROWN – Trainer: O FERRARIS
The expensive former Cape resident CAPTAIN OF TORTUGA showed juvenile promise despite not shedding his maiden tag last term and he has quite surprisingly relocated to the Highveld. The extremely well-bred bay was gelded during the 18 week layoff and he has joined a top local yard. He should certainly be followed during this campaign.

Race 4: THE TIN MAN(7)
Jockey: S KHUMALO– Trainer: D Nieuwenhuizen
THE TIN MAN found his best form with an eye-catching last sprint triumph over subsequent winner Seventh Rule but he clearly seems to have escaped with just a three pound penalty. The four-year old raced up with the speed and then ran on again to easily attain the victory whilst in the process indicating that he prefers an extra furlong.

Race 5: KING OF THE SKY(2)
Jockey: S BROWN – Trainer: O FERRARIS
KING OF THE SKY is an above-average three-year old who acquitted himself really well on his handicap and seasonal debut last month but is quite surprisingly not having a stab at the Dingaans later on this week. That said, he will strip fitter today and could certainly be worth following in the classics in the autumn.

KING OF THE SKY(2) |
Race 6: MARDI GRAS(6)
Jockey: R DANIELSON – Trainer: J Janse VAN VUUREN
MARDI GRAS was carded to race five days ago so his progress there must be monitored but the striking grey should quickly bounce back to best after a below-par last feature outing where his preparations may have been hampered by the postponements and change of venue.

Race 8: FLY NORTH(13)
Jockey: L HEWITSON – Trainer: B BOTES
FLY NORTH was strangely ridden from the front when she tired late over the minimum distance recently but this extra furlong will suit the track specialist who will surely be given a chance this time around. Of course she had decent prior form including finishing 4th behind The Tin Man over this c & d in her penultimate start.
