It isn’t surprising that she gets a new jockey up today and the bay daughter of Judpot is certainly the one to beat, provided ‘Striker’ keeps her in the contest.

The de Kock yard should dominate the betting market and the final outcome of this Assessment Plate where their impressive recent maiden winner VIKING TRAIL could make his presence felt despite taking a rather giant leap in class. The chestnut son of Pathfork has huge scope for improvement and is the stable elect but of course is naturally poorly handicapped due to his premature merit rating.

WINTER’S FORGE isn’t best weighted in her second consecutive Assessment Plate but the promising and versatile daughter of Western Winter’s confidence would have been boosted by her workmanlike recent mile triumph. Of course she achieved much of her merit rating over sprinting and though she faces a sterner test today, she should certainly be up to it.

SEVILLE ORANGE caught the eye when she got going late to finish a creditable 5th in her debut sprint in a competitive field six weeks ago, the formline of which must be monitored by the progress of Parental Control who competes earlier in the day. This daughter of Duke Of Marmalade would have come on smartly from that performance and she is bred to love the extra furlong.
