Meet South Africa’s Fast5 World Series squad

Netball South Africa have announced the squads that will be representing the country in the upcoming Netball Fast5 World Series which will take place in New Zealand.

Netball South Africa have announced the squads that will be representing the country in the upcoming Netball Fast5 World Series which will take place in New Zealand.

This tournament  which consist of both male and female teams, will take place on November 9 and 10 with eight matches to be played.

Six countries, namely South Africa, Australia, England, New Zealand, Uganda and Jamaica will be participating.

Netball South Africa said their preliminary squads are packed with skill, speed, and determination. From seasoned players to rising stars, this group is ready to take on the best of the best and make them proud.

They further stated that they will be announcing the final travelling squads soon.

The most loved Nomfundo Mngomezulu  did not make it to the squad this year after making her debut in last year’s squad. While Kamogelo Maseko,  made it to the squad this year for.

Jeanie Steyn who was the captain last year, also did not make it to the list.

South Africa’s best performance in the Fast5 was in 2022 when they won a silver medal playing against Australia in the final. In 2022 was also the first time Australia won the tittle and they retained it again last year, 2023 after delivering a clinical 35-23 win over New Zealand. 

Meanwhile Net Blacks netted their second straight men’s FAST5 Netball World Series crown with victory over their great trans-Tasman rivals Australia.
