The European Rugby Champions Cup may be over but qualification for next season’s tournament needs to be decided with Ulster and Ospreys squaring off on Sunday the 20th of May for the honour.
There’s a massive European rugby clash in store this Sunday with Ulster and Ospreys squaring off for the right to participate in next season’s European Rugby Champions Cup. Both sides have endured rather underwhelming season’s but a win here would put some much-needed gloss on their respective campaigns.
Ulster v Ospreys
Sunday 20 May
Kingspan Stadium
16:05
To Win (80 Mins)
Ulster 4/10
Draw 20/1
Ospreys 2/1
Ulster
The Irish side really have struggled for rhythm this term and failed to make the inaugural Pro14 play-offs as they slumped to a fourth-place finish in Conference B. They didn’t fare much better in this year’s European Rugby Champions Cup as they bombed out in the group phase.
Ulster do know how to beat the Scarlets at the Kingspan as they ran out 8-0 victors when the two sides met last month.
Ospreys
Like their opponents, the Welsh bombed out of the Champions Cup at the group phase as they finished third in a pool that contained both Clermont and Saracens. They also endured a miserable inaugural Pro14 as they finished the regular season in fifth-place on the Conference A standings.
This weekend’s visitors have struggled on the road this term and went down to Italian outfit Zebre 37-14 in their penultimate away fixture. They did bounce back on the road by claiming a 23-26 victory over a weekend Cardiff Blues outfit three weeks ago.
Verdict: Ulster 4/10
They may have struggled this term but I can’t see this talented Ulster side slipping up here. Get on at 4/10.
