Crusaders vs Sharks

In 23 years of Super Rugby the Crusaders have only ever lost twice in New Zealand against South African teams. We are talking about over 50 matches here. The odds are heavily against the Sharks.

Reds vs Sunwolves

The Reds had a bye last week while the Sunwolves were getting thrashed by the Highlanders at home. After beating the Sharks in Durban 2 weeks ago, the Reds will go into this one high on confidence as they can see the possibility of sneaking into a playoff spot is now a reality.

Reds to win by 8 points.

Hurricanes vs Rebels

I think that the Hurricanes have finally got their groove back. These guys are probably the only team that is a genuine contender to stop the Crusaders from winning this tournament again provided that they don’t lose key players to injuries.

Hurricanes to win by 12 points.

Highlanders vs Chiefs

The return of Ben Smith for the Highlanders as well as the glaring absence of key All Blacks for the Chiefs means that this one is slanted towards the home side.

Highlanders to win by 10 points.

Brumbies vs Blues
Saturday 4th May, 11:45
This is a tough one to call. The Brumbies will have traveled from Argentina while the Blues had a bye last week. Having said that, the Blues haven’t won a single away match this season.

Bulls vs Waratahs
Saturday 4th May, 15:05
The Bulls have been the biggest disappointments this season given the players that they have at their disposal. I thought that by now they would be head and shoulders above everyone in the SA Conference. Without Israel Folau the Waratahs lack a deadly finisher who can capitalize on the Bulls errors. I’m going to have to go with the home side even though my gut tells me that they’ll let me down again.

Bulls to win by 6 points.

Jaguares vs Stormers
Saturday 4th May, 21:40
Both Siya Kolisi and Pieter-Steph du Toit are not in Argentina for this one. The Jaguares have surprised many pundits in this 2019 season and naturally you would go for them because of the momentum they currently have. They do however have a history of being inconsistent even at home. Both teams will be desperate for a win here because their entire season depends on this outcome.

Jaguares to win by 5 points.
