Hollywoodbets Sharks attack coach David Williams believes the side owes their recent purple patch to their quality in depth and options on attack.
The men in black and white have now won their last four matches in all competitions, a run which has booked them a Challenge Cup semi-final date with Clermont Auvergne in May.
Ahead of Friday’s URC tussle with Glasgow Warriors, Williams has highlighted some of the areas which have boosted the team of late.
“We’ve had a bit of consistency in selection, the availability of our full roster. That combined with time spent together and a continual belief in what we’re doing has resulted in some good performances.
“Confidence does a lot for a team in terms of coming in on Monday and belief in the plan. Just that confidence of a few wins brings belief to the squad, and the confidence to carry out the play on the field creates great belief in the team.”
John Plumtree’s men face an almighty test in the form of second-placed Warriors, who are yet to lose in the URC at the Scotstoun Stadium this season. Williams, though, reckons the momentum in the Sharks’ squad puts them in a good position to cause an upset on the weekend.
“I think the season’s been about growing the depth in the squad. We’ve got that ability now to bring people off the bench and still carry on influencing the game, so we’re in a great place with the depth that we’ve created.”
On the internal flyhalf battle between Siya Masuku and Curwin Bosch, Williams only sees positives.
“Both are phenomenal players and actually Siya and Curwin are on a par there in terms of distance with the boot. I think what it’s done is create that competition edge amongst that position, which brings out the best performance in both of them.
“It gives us a great platform to push on towards the end of the season.”
