Bafana Bafana midfielder Thapelo Maseko has been ruled out of AFCON due to a hamstring injury he suffered in the last match up against Cape Verde on Saturday.

Maseko had originally come on board as a substitute but got injured during extra time. The team, however, ultimately took the win in a thrilling penalty shoot-out.

Coach Hugo Broos said Maseko will not be replaced and he will not go home to South Africa, as the tournament is almost over.

“Maseko has muscle injury grade three. And we don’t want to replace him. There are problems with the visa and the flights. If we should replace him, the player will arrive on Thursday or worst case maybe Friday.” said Broos.

He said they have the opportunity to solve the problem in the group, so Maseko will not be replaced.

Meanwhile, teh Super Eagle’s Victor Osimhen was declared fit and available for selection in the upcoming semi-final clash and he joined his team for training on Tuesday.

Osimhen missed his flight from Abidjan to Bouaké on Monday, after suffering from abdominal discomfort. Team medics placed him under close supervision and allocated a member of the medical team to stay behind with him. He was later cleared to join the rest of the squad in Bouaké.

Bafana Bafana are preparing to face Nigeria in a thrilling semi-final match-up on Wednesday night in Bouake.
