This announcement comes after the channel had previously announced that they had not been able to secure the rights to broadcast AFCON, ultimately disappointing thousands of fans.

In a statement by the channel, Multichoice said that they have reached a commercially viable agreement with rights holders New World TV (NWTV) to broadcast the tournament which will be taking place in Ivory Coast on the 13th of January until the 11th of February.

Managing Director of NWTV Nimonka Kolani said this agreement proves that there is nothing more important than the happiness of Africans who wish to follow the exploits of their favourite team.

They added that the matches will be available on DSTV channels as well as GOtv across Africa.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana played to a goalless draw against Lesotho in a warm-up match on Wednesday before making their way to Abidjan.

The team departs from Johannesburg to Abidjan on Thursday and will make their residence in CAN Village in Korhogo, which will be their new home from Friday.

Coach Hugo Broos left SA with his full 23-man Bafana squad, including Ronwen Williams, Themba Zwane and Mothobi Mvala, who all suffered various injuries in the past few weeks.
