The club salaries of Bafana Bafana stars Keagan Dolly and Bongani Zungu have been revealed in France with Dolly taking home R589,156 every month, while Zungu collects R368,000 monthly.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Dolly, who plays for Montpellier in Ligue 1, is reportedly paid 40,000 Euros a month which equates to over half-a-million rand monthly.
Meanwhile, Ex-Brazilians midfielder Zungu, who turns out for Amiens SC in the same league, banks around 25, 000 Euros which translates to over R350, 000-a-month.
A French publication recently published all the salaries of professional players in that nation’s top flight, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar the highest earner following his world record move from Barcelona ahead of 2017/18.
Nonetheless, it seems there is an incentive for South African players to make the grade in Europe given the handsome rewards on offer.
This is despite Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter recently expressing reservations that local players had the drive to succeed abroad, as wages in Mzansi were improving.
He said: “You get more money, it’s more adulation‚ it’s nicer girlfriends…it’s the whole package. And then that hunger to go to Europe disappears.”
