EPL: Chelsea and Arsenal Share the Spoils

Two players chasing the soccer ball

Check out our detailed match report from the entertaining goalless draw between Chelsea and Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte’s men came into the game as strong favourites with the Gunners failing to win at Stamford Bridge since 2011. To make matters worse, Arsenal’s chief playmaker missed out due to injury, while Alexis Sanchez started on the bench yet again.

Arsene Wenger’s men played with determination as they dominated the first half and not just in terms of possession. The North Londoners accumulated 51 percent possession with 10 shots compared to Chelsea’s four.

Both teams had terrific chances to find the back of the net with Pedro’s one on one saved by Peter Cech and Aaron Ramsey beating Thibaut Courtois but not the bar.

A slow start to the second half saw Wenger introduce Sanchez after the hour mark, while Eden Hazard was brought on in the 68th minute to try spark life into Chelsea.

The Gunners had a goal disallowed in the 75th minute after Shkodran Mustafruled headed home but was rightfully ruled offside by the referee.

Hazard should have put Chelsea ahead in the 80th minute but the Belgian fired straight into the hands of Cech.

The Blues’ chances of claiming maximum points were all but over after David Luiz was shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Sead Kolacinac.

The game ended goalless and  Arsenal will be the happier of the teams given their dreadful record against the big “six”.
