Broos had reduced his 36-man preliminary squad to a final squad of 23 players last week, with Msimango being one of two Chiefs players – the other being Bruce Bvuma – to be dropped.

On Monday, however, SAFA confirmed that the Belgian coach called up Msimango to replace Kekana due to injury.

“Bafana Bafana camp is in full swing on day one, with all players present. There is one change to the initial squad announced by Coach Hugo Broos. Due to injury, Grant Kekana has been released and Given Msimango has reported for duty,” SAFA stated.

Bafana will face Nigeria on June 7 before hosting Zimbabwe on June 11 at Free State Stadium. Both games are crucial for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, with Broos aiming for “at least four points”.
