SuperSport Scoop R9m, Tinkler Angry at Mazembe Sportsmanship

SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler remains angry with the lack of respect shown by TP Mazembe, despite the club collecting a R9m windfall for finishing second in the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Congolese outfit won 2-1 over two legs and thus United fell just short of pocketing the R18 million first prize. After the final whistle in last Saturday’s 0-0 draw in Pretoria, some Ravens fans reportedly invaded the pitch while team officials were also said to have mocked Matsatsantsa.

Nonetheless, Tinkler expressed his disdain for the actions of the visitors, saying,

“when we are expected to show respect and humility when we go out the country, people (the Congolese) need to show the same humility and respect when they come here.”

With the African journey having come to an end after traveling to eight African nations and playing 18 games in total in the tournament, SuperSport resume their Premiership campaign against Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday evening at the Mbombela Stadium.
