Italian Serie A: Gameweek 3 Preview

Lukaku Celebrates Goal with Inter

Napoli lead Italy’s top division with AC Milan and Hellas Verona only behind on goal difference after two rounds. Juve dropped their first points of the season with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Roma, while Atalanta, Lazio and Inter Milan all earned their maiden wins of the season.

An exciting fixture list awaits this weekend, but at the time of writing, there are three midweek clashes yet to be played. The Serie A treble won at 7/2 last weekend and I’ll be looking to replicate that this weekend.

Friday 2 October

Fiorentina 15/20
Draw 28/10
Sampdoria 7/2
Fiorentina, despite going down 4-3 at Inter Milan, were excellent but a lapse in concentration costed them three points as Inter Milan banged two late goals to snatch the win. Sampdoria have had a terrible start to the season with back-to-back defeats, scoring twice and conceding six goals. At 15/20, the hosts look a solid bet, especially judging by their performances this season. Enough said, back Fiorentina to get the win.

Saturday 3 October

Sassuolo 9/20
Draw 15/4
Crotone 11/2
Sassuolo came good with their first win of the season last time out with a 4-1 thumping of Spezia. Newly-promoted Crotone seem to still be finding their feet as they have suffered back-to-back losses, scoring just once and conceding six times. Sassuolo have won the last five meetings at home against the new boys and should build on that here. The home win is tipped.
Udinese 4/1
Draw 3/1
Roma 13/20
Udinese are still yet to play their catch-up game against Spezia at the time of writing, but judging by their 1-0 defeat at Hellas Verona last time out, Roma should dominate proceedings. The Giallorossi were excellent against Juventus, earning a 2-2 draw. However, Udinese will be tough to break down on home soil. I’m not expecting Roma to run riot but I do think they will do enough to come away with all three points.
Sunday 4 October

Atalanta 1/4
Draw 52/10
Cagliari 17/2
Atalanta are off the back of a 4-2 win at Torino at the time of writing and regardless of how their midweek matchup against Lazio goes, I would still most likely tip them to get the win here. Cagliari are winless after two matches, scoring once and conceding three goals. However, stats show that there have only been eight goals scored between these sides in the last six meetings. So, I’m going to go against my gut and follow the stats. The Totals – Under 2.5 goals – market is tipped at 2/1! Talk about value!
Lazio 39/20
Draw 11/4
Inter Milan 12/10
This one is a difficult fixture to call especially without Lazio playing their match against Atalanta at the time of writing or Inter’s catch-up game against Benevento. However, recent clashes between the two sides point to a tight contest. I’m going with a draw here.
Benevento 21/10
Draw 26/10
Bologna 23/20
Newcomers Benevento look a force to be reckoned with. They might not have the depth to compete with the big boys but I have no doubt that they will be causing a few problems this season. Following their 2-0 defeat at AC Milan, Bologna bounced back to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Parma on Monday night. Both sides will fancy their chances here which may lead to plenty of goals being scored. Get on the Both Teams to Score – Yes – market at 11/20.
Parma 37/20
Draw 43/20
Hellas Verona 31/20
Basement-dwellers Parma have suffered two defeats on the bounce, scoring once and conceding six times. Hellas Verona have done the opposite, recording back-to-back wins, scoring four goals without shipping any. Hellas Verona won both meetings last season and look well worth a punt to make it three from three. The away win is on the cards.
AC Milan 1/4
Draw 5/1
Spezia 10/1
AC Milan are playing some great football as they currently lie second on the standings at the time of writing, with two wins from two games. Spezia were belted 4-1 at home against Sassuolo last weekend and I don’t see them doing much better here. The hosts are priced up short for the win. I’m going in search of a bit more value and with that being said, AC Milan are tipped on the Half-Time/Full-Time win at 13/20.
Juventus 19/20
Draw 5/2
Napoli 11/4
We end off round three with a mammoth clash between the defending champions and the table toppers. Juventus will be looking to get back to winning ways following their 2-2 draw at Roma, while Napoli will be hoping to maintain their fine form. The last four meetings between these sides have seen both teams find the back of the net. Stick to the pattern and take Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 15/20.
LAST WEEK’S TREBLE WON @ 7/2
Lazio Win 15/20
Inter Milan Win 5/10
Bologna vs Parma Over 2.5 Goals 15/20

THIS WEEK’S TREBLE TIPPED @ 68/10
