Italian Serie A: Week 3 Preview

Soccer Player About to Strike the Ball

Club football returns this weekend following the international break and round three of the Italian Serie A is showing plenty of promise on the betting front!

Inter Milan lead the pack on six points after two rounds with defending champions Juventus and their city-rivals Torino breathing down the Azzurri’s necks. Let’s find out what’s good from this weekend’s action!

Saturday 14 September

Fiorentina 39/10
Draw 29/10
Juventus 13/20

We kick things off at the Artemio Franchi Stadium on Saturday afternoon with Fiorentina playing host to Juventus. The hosts have been terrible, suffering two defeats from their opening two games, while the Old Lady have done the opposite, with two wins to the good.

Juventus have won a staggering nine of the last 10 meetings between these sides and offer excellent value to come away with maximum points. Back the defending champs to get the victory.

Napoli 3/10
Draw 5/1
Sampdoria 8/1

Napoli showed tremendous fighting spirit last time out despite going down 4-3 to Juventus. The Azzurri were three goals down but rallied to level the score before Kalidou Koulibaly experienced a malfunction at the back to gift Juve the all-important win in stoppage time.

Sampdoria on the other hand, find themselves at the foot of the table with back-to-back defeats, scoring just once and conceding seven times. Napoli will be hungry to get back to winning ways and I’m expecting them to get in front early. Back the hosts on the Half-time/Full-time win at 7/10.

Inter Milan 7/20
Draw 17/4
Udinese 8/1

Table-toppers Inter Milan have been brilliant with two wins on the spin, scoring six goals and conceding only once. Udinese started their campaign with a solid and well-deserved 1-0 home win over AC Milan but all that hard work was undone after going down 3-1 to Parma last time out.

Inter are a different beast on home soil and are expected to see off the Bianconeri. I’m backing the Azzurri to keep it clean. The Home to Win to Nil – Yes – market is tipped at even money.

Sunday 15 September

Genoa 47/20
Draw 26/10
Atalanta 21/20

Sunday’s lunchtime matchup will see Genoa take on Atalanta at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The hosts remain unbeaten after two matches, while Atalanta experienced their first stumble last time out, going down 3-2 on home soil against Torino. The Rossoblu have made a good start to the new season but in my opinion, it’s only a matter of time before that ends.

Genoa escaped relegation last term by the skin of their teeth with only goal difference keeping them in the top flight. Atalanta have won six of the last seven meetings against Genoa and are tipped to build on that.

Parma 29/20
Draw 22/10
Cagliari 39/20

Following a 1-0 home defeat to Juventus in the opening match of the season, Parma bounced back to winning ways with an epic 3-1 victory away to Udinese. Cagliari have lost their opening two games – both at home – scoring once and conceding three times.

They registered just two wins from 19 travels last season and are expected to struggle here. Take Parma to capitalize on home advantage.

Brescia 39/20
Draw 23/10
Bologna 14/10

Brescia, despite going down 1-0 to AC Milan before the international break, showed a lot of guts and resilience. Bologna were on the opposite end of that scoreline as they edged SPAL 1-0 at home to keep their unbeaten record intact this season.

However, home ground advantage can make all the difference in the world and I’m backing the newcomers to put in another good effort on Sunday. Brescia are tipped on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 5/10.

SPAL 17/4
Draw 3/1
Lazio 6/10

SPAL have suffered two defeats on the bounce, scoring twice and conceding double that amount. Lazio remain undefeated after smashing Sampdoria 3-0 away before sharing the spoils with Roma in a 1-1 draw last time out.

However, the Eagles are not the most defensive team in the league and when they attack the game, they leave a lot of areas open to exploit on the pitch. Take Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 8/10.

Roma 7/10
Draw 31/10
Sassuolo 34/10

With the signings of Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan before the close of the transfer window, Roma have added two experienced internationals to help aid their defensive and offensive performance.

They have drawn their first two matches but look extremely good value for money this weekend. Sassuolo come off the back of a 4-1 home win over Sampdoria and obviously have goals in them. However, I doubt it will be enough to see off Roma. The home win is tipped.

Hellas Verona 17/4
Draw 28/10
AC Milan 13/20

Hellas Verona earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Lecce last time out to maintain their unbeaten record after two matches. AC Milan come to town with the title of favourites but it won’t be cut and dry for the has-been glory side who have been below par at best.

As much as I think the Rossoneri have been nowhere near their best, I think it will still be enough to edge Hellas Verona. AC Milan are tipped to come out on top.

Monday 16 September

Torino 5/10
Draw 32/10
Lecce 11/2

Monday’s clash between Torino and newly-promoted Lecce looks straight-forward, so let’s keep this short and sweet. The hosts have won both their matches, while Lecce have lost both of theirs, without finding the back of the net. Enough said, back Torino and add to all multiples.

TREBLE TIPPED @ 33/10
Juventus Win 7/10
Roma Win 7/10
Torino Win 5/10
