Italian Serie A: Week 8 Preview

Soccer Player About to Strike the Ball

Football fans will be excited by the return of club football this weekend after a brief international break. The Serie A table assumed the position last time out as defending champions Juventus took to the summit for the first time this season, leapfrogging title-contenders Inter Milan. Let’s keep the jibber-jabber to a minimum and cut straight to round eight’s action.

Saturday 19 October

Lazio 12/10
Draw 26/10
Atalanta 39/20

Lazio remain unbeaten at home with two wins from three games, scoring seven goals and conceding just once. Atalanta have been brilliant on their travels, winning all four games, scoring 11 goals and conceding four times.

This is expected to be a cracking contest with goal-mouth action from the first blow of the whistle. With that being said, the First Half Totals – Over 1.5 Goals – market is tipped at 23/20.

Napoli 2/9
Draw 52/10
Hellas Verona 11/1

Napoli will be looking to close the gap at the top of the standings when they take on Hellas Verona on Saturday. The hosts were held to a dour goalless draw at Torino last time out and will be determined to get back to winning ways.

Hellas Verona have registered just two wins from seven games, scoring only six goals in the process. Back the Azzurri on the Halftime-Fulltime Win at 13/20.

Juventus 7/20
Draw 39/10
Bologna 15/2

Juventus remain unbeaten with six wins from seven matches, including four on the spin. Bologna are without a win in their last four games and have lost the last seven meetings against the Old Lady, scoring twice and conceding 16 times in all competitions.

The 7/20 on Juventus is still a great price to make them a banker bet. However, if you looking for more value like myself, the defending champions should clear the (-1) Handicap at 9/10!

Sunday 20 October

Sassuolo 15/4
Draw 28/10
Inter Milan 7/10

Sassuolo have been terrible with four losses from six matches, including two defeats on the bounce. Inter Milan come to town off the back of their first loss of the season – a 2-1 home defeat against Juventus – and will be hungry to return to winning ways.

Sassuolo should give Inter a tough time on home soil. It won’t be cut and dry but Inter Milan are tipped to collect maximum points.

Sampdoria 43/20
Draw 51/20
Roma 23/20

Basement-dwellers Sampdoria have been horrendous with six losses from seven matches, scoring four goals and conceding 16 times. Roma have been inconsistent at best despite suffering just one loss this season.

The Giallorossi won both meetings last season, scoring five goals and conceding just once. The away win is tipped.

Udinese 18/10
Draw 43/20
Torino 16/10

Udinese have battled to score goals thus far, finding the back of the net just three times in seven matches. Torino have lacked consistency but earned a hard-fought goalless draw at home against Napoli before the break and will be looking to build on that.

The Maroons are unbeaten against Udinese in the last seven meetings. A tight matchup is on the cards but Torino are tipped on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 4/10.

Cagliari 11/10
Draw 47/20
SPAL 51/20

Cagliari are unbeaten in their last five matches, including a well-deserved 1-1 draw at Roma last time out. Relegation-threatened SPAL have been dismal with five losses from their last seven games and that doesn’t look like improving here.

Cagliari have won the last three meetings at home against SPAL, scoring nine goals and conceding just twice. Get on the home team.

Parma 15/10
Draw 22/10
Genoa 19/10

Parma have lost four of their seven matches but have won back-to-back games on home soil. Genoa are placed second from bottom on the table with just five points after seven rounds and have lost their last two outings, scoring once and conceding six times.

Home advantage will play a vital role in the result and Parma have proven tough to beat at the Ennio Tardini Stadium. Back the hosts to bag maximum points.

AC Milan 4/10
Draw 7/2
Lecce 6/1

AC Milan ended a terrible run of three defeats on the trot with a hard-fought 2-1 victory away to Genoa. Lecce find themselves placed in the drop zone after seven rounds with three losses from their last four matches.

AC Milan have been a bit of a wild card at times but they should have enough firepower to get the job done. Back the Rossoneri to get the all-important win.

Monday 21 October

Brescia 26/10
Draw 5/2
Fiorentina 1/1

The final match of gameweek eight will see Brescia play host to Fiorentina on Monday evening. The Little Swallows have been poor thus far with four losses from six matches, while the Viola have impressed of late with three straight wins.

Brescia will look to keep things tight against Fiorentina, who don’t generally fair well on the road. I’m expecting a low-scoring affair, so climb into the Totals – Under 2.5 – Goals market at even money.

TREBLE TIPPED @ 11/2
Napoli HT-FT Win 13/20
Juventus (-1) Handicap 9/10
Roma Win 23/20
