Mosimane’s future with Downs is reportedly up in the air with his current contract set to expire at the end of June.

With all sporting activities on hold as a result of the spread of the coronavirus, the former Bafana boss is yet to sign a new deal.

But the Stars Of Africa academy boss, Khan, who is a massive admire of the 55-year-old, feels it would be Sundowns’ loss were Mosimane to move on.

Khan said on Soccer Laduma: “He has lived up to his mandate of what he has achieved, the club has to consider that.

“If they lose somebody like him what would it cost to replace him because for a long time they’ve brought coaches from everywhere, coaches from Europe and they didn’t have the same success that he has.”

In his time with the club, Mosimane has guided Downs to four PSL titles, a Nedbank Cup, Telkom Cup, the CAF Champions League as well as CAF Super Cup.

Khan added: “So sometimes, give him the same recognition and reward that you would have given to a foreign coach.

“Had a foreign coach achieved the same success as Pitso, would the club have considered giving them better contracts? I’m sure they would.

“So I think what he has championed is – the fact that, give South African coaches the same remuneration that you would give a foreign coach and I think that is something that still has to take place because a lot of times we give more credit and respect to a foreign tactician than we would a local coach.”
