The case stems from Chiefs not honouring two fixtures due to a Covid-19 outbreak at the club when they had initially asked the PSL to postpone their next five league games in December. The PSL responded by saying that Chiefs did not have enough grounds to postpone the games.

Chiefs did eventually return to action and honour three of the five games.

After the PSL had released a statement snubbing Chiefs’ reasons for missing the two league games against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows on 4 and 8 December respectively.

Amakhosi then responded to the PSL by releasing a statement vowing to fight the PSL all the way to prove the severity of their case.

According to Sunday World, Chiefs have now hired legal expert Norman Arendse SC as part of their legal team for the high profile case.

“Arendse is a big gun who has won so many cases in sport and that’s why Chiefs went for him.

“This shows how serious Chiefs are taking this matter because the six points that are at stake now,” a well-placed insider told Sunday World.
