After weeks of negotiations between Bayern and the Austrian national team coach, hopes of securing Rangnick’s return to club management faded as he reaffirmed his dedication to his current role.

“I am the Austrian team boss with all my heart,” Rangnick declared. “I really enjoy this task and am determined to successfully continue on our chosen path.”

Emphasising his commitment to the Austrian squad, Rangnick clarified, “This is not a rejection of FC Bayern, but rather a decision for my team and our common goals.

“Our full concentration is on the European Championships. We will do everything we can to get as far as possible!”

The Austrian Football Association expressed their delight at Rangnick’s decision, with president Klaus Mitterdorfer stating, “We are very pleased about this decision by Ralf Rangnick and the clear commitment to a shared future.”

Bayern’s pursuit of managerial talent this summer has hit roadblocks, with Rangnick becoming the third manager to rebuff their advances.

Initially eyeing Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern’s hopes were dashed when the Spaniard reaffirmed his allegiance to his current club, alongside Liverpool.

The Bavarian giants then turned to Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, only to see him extend his contract beyond the 2026 World Cup.

Even Unai Emery, another reported target, opted to commit to Aston Villa instead of Bayern Munich. Rangnick, though third in line, was the preferred choice for the managerial position.

With coach Thomas Tuchel’s departure looming, Bayern now face the daunting task of swiftly securing a replacement before the season’s end.
