AmaZulu will host Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this Saturday as they hope to wrap up the season with a KwaZulu-Natal derby win and try to squeeze into the top half of the log.

In preparation for Steve Komphela’s Abafana Bes’thende, one of Franco’s major worries is the health concerns that have hit his camp in the past few days, with the likes of Abbubaker Mobara missing out on training this week.

“Many players are complaining of flu symptoms, even before the Sekhukhune United game,” Franco explained.

“I don’t know which players are going to be available. Some of the players did not complete the training session (on Thursday) so it is going to be tough.

“Even some of the ones who completed the training sessions are not 100% and we need to take that into consideration. We need players who are 100% mentally and physically before they get into the pitch,” Franco added.

While the 43-year-old mentor might have to do without some of his key players, he is optimistic about his chances of leapfrogging Kaizer Chiefs to the eighth spot of the DStv Premiership, where they will be counted among the teams to compete for next season’s MTN8 competition.

“We need to be realistic because we have not scored many goals during the season, we know it is going to be tough and if we think we are going to be them by three to five goals, then we are probably not going to be able to beat them.

“We need to start with the target of winning the game, which is the most important thing to finish the season with a victory,” Franco concluded.
