REIGNITED: Delighted Cavin Johnson reveals how Kaizer Chiefs rediscovered their goalscoring form

Chiefs snapped their unwanted five-game winless run with a 2-1 win to move up to eighth position in the DStv Premiership standings after Shabalala netted a crucial winner in the 76th minute.

Before Sunday, Amakhosi had failed to register a goal in their last four league matches as their struggles mounted in front of goal.

The Soweto giants will be hoping that the win over SuperSport will inspire a positive end to an underwhelming campaign by maintaining a top-eight place.

“We trained a bit more on how they should finish, and today Saile scored the goal that he scores every day at training,” Johnson said post-match.

“Other days in other games, he doesn’t score the same goal. Shabba (Mduduzi Shabalala) scores the goal today, that in training we set up as a drill during training where the one drill is specifically for technique only, and today he uses the technique where with the goal you’d think he’d come with power, but instead finishes with technique.

“We are happy because at least we got two goals today, whereas last week we got zero.

“Where also the week before we got zero goals, but we still played good football.”

Next up, Chiefs host reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a highly-anticipated DStv Premiership encounter at FNB Stadium on Thursday.
