The result sees Masandawana go 13 points clear at the top of the standings having now won 14 and drawn four of their last 18 matches, with an overall unbeaten run of 42 games.

SuperSport climbed one place to third with an inferior goal difference to Orlando Pirates as both teams are equal on 33 points from 20 matches.

Sundowns opened the scoring on the half-hour mark after a stunning long-range strike from Teboho Mokoena that left opposing goalkeeper Washington Arubi sprawling.

Gavin Hunt’s charges were not in the least bit knocked out though and equalised just three minutes later when Lyle Lakay whipped a free-kick into the box and Bradley Grobler finished at the back-post.

The defending league champions had the better opportunities in the second half with Thembinkosi Lorch going the closest but the forward was denied by Arubi.
