Titus’ decisive strike came on the stroke half time as the team from the Cape Winelands went four points clear of Sekhukhune United in third place in the DStv Premiership standings.

The victory also means Stellies are now unbeaten in their last 13 matches under head coach Steve Barker to validate the club’s impressive home-grown philosophy.

An underwhelming campaign continues for Amakhosi as the Soweto giants slumped to their eighth defeat of the season and sit currently in seventh in the standings.

Stellenbosch took the lead in first-half stoppage-time when a long ball caught the Chiefs defence off guard with Titus beating an onrushing Bruce Bvuma.

Johnson brought on burly forward Christian Saile from the bench to try and impact the result but failed to do so as Chiefs looked blunt in attack.

Stellies had a chance at the death to seal the contest when Antonio van Wyk was clean through on goal but the forward was denied by a smart save from Bvuma.
