The 33-year-old Cardoso who spent four-and-a-half-year at Chiefs scoring 29 goals was part of a group of nine players who have not had their contracts renewed at Naturena.

Castro initially joined Chiefs from Mamelodi Sundowns, where he won the League title, Telkom KnockOut, CAF Champions League and CAF Super Cup, during his successful two year at the Brazilians.

In an interview with KickOff.com, Castro confirms that when his kids finish their schooling they will all be heading back to Bogota in Colombia.

“I’m going back home next week. I could have been already home since the beginning of the month but I have been waiting for the kids to close at school first before we leave. I have been very far away from home for a while now,” Cardoso tells KickOff.com.

“Once I’m back home I will see what happens next but the beauty about all of this is that I will be with my family.

“From there I will try and look into what is the best option for all of us because I have my wife and two kids to consider in all of this.

“Maybe I will join one of the teams that I have played for before or maybe go to another South American country closer to home with a travel time of three to hours which will be easier for me that being in South Africa.

“Travelling from Johannesburg to Bogota takes on average about 35 hours.

“With the offers that I have had to stay in South Africa I understand the economic crisis and that I’m 33 and didn’t play much last season but then for me to be far away from home has to make sense to me.

“So I will rather get less being at home or closer to home,” Castro adds.
