NEWS: Clinton Larsen leads Magesi FC to DStv Premiership promotion

The thrilling 3-1 win not only secured the championship for Magesi but also marked their promotion to the prestigious DStv Premiership with two games still remaining in the season.

Their dominant performance catapulted them eight points clear of second-placed University of Pretoria, who were held to a 2-2 draw by Black Leopards.

Magesi’s commanding lead in the standings, with an impressive 55 points, places them firmly at the top, while AmaTuks trails behind in second with 47 points. Baroka and JDR Stars occupy the third and fourth positions, clinching the remaining playoff spots.

Under the astute leadership of Coach Clinton Larsen, Magesi showcased their mettle in a crucial match against Milford, securing the coveted promotion with flair and finesse.

The promotion of Magesi to the DStv Premiership is a significant milestone for Limpopo football, as they will now join Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City, making it a formidable trio representing the region in the upcoming Premiership season.

“It has been a lot of hard work. It has been 15 months since I came here at the club last season and since day one, we had a lot of work to do,” Larsen said after the match.

“We had to change the structure to make sure the club works as professional. I want to thank the management for that trust and support and there was not a single day of interference from the club.”
