With Mamelodi Sundowns having clinched the league, Jose Riveiro insists his Orlando Pirates side are determined to win all their remaining games to secure second spot in the DStv Premiership table and in doing so clinch CAF Champions League qualification.
After booking their spot in the Nedbank Cup finals after a 3-1 win over Chippa United on Saturday, the Sea Robbers will renew their battle with the Chilli Boys in a league encounter on Wednesday at Orlando Stadium.
The Soweto giants currently occupy third place in the standings and are three points behind Stellenbosch in the second.
With just four games remaining, Riveiro says his side can’t afford to drop points in the race for continental football.
“We want to be in the second position at the end of the season and to make it possible we know that we have to win every game,” Riveiro said.
“Stellenbosch is doing well they are in good form and that is pushing us to the limit to make sure that we don’t fail.
“We can’t not have a bad day (losing match) from now till the end of the season. So, the way that Chippa is going to approach is something that is not on my side.
“It is something that the opponents (Chippa United) will decide but we were in a similar scenario a few weeks ago when we played AmaZulu in the quarter-finals (Nedbank Cup) and three days later we hosted them in Orlando.
“It was a difficult game because, after these 90 minutes, we know each other better than before.
“So, I’m sure it’s going to be a very tight game that is going to be defining very small margins,” Riveiro concluded.
