The Sowetan reports that despite the confirmation of the rescheduled game by the PSL for both of Chiefs’ fixtures against Golden Arrows and CT City, the Mother City outfit have confirmed that no such fixture has been officially confirmed by the Premier Soccer League to them. This is despite AmaKhosi claiming the league told them they will face Arrows on Wednesday, before hosting City on 30 April.

The two matches were initially scheduled to take place in December but Chiefs failed to pitch up for either fixture at the time due to a mass Covid-19 outbreak at their Naturena headquarters.

Speaking to Sowetan, City’s Bailey said club owner John Comitis was overseas so could not comment but he would give clarity on the club’s current standpoint regarding the fixture.

“We have written to the PSL to say we’re not agreeing to the rescheduling and they’ve not responded. At the moment I don’t know what are the possibilities but I know for sure that the letter they [the PSL] sent to all the clubs isn’t true because they didn’t consult with us,” said Bailey.

“They just told us that this is the date you’re going to play… it can’t work like that. Both teams have to agree on the fixture being rescheduled and we didn’t agree to anything.”

For the initial fixture against Chiefs at FNB Stadium on 4 December, City has travelled to honour the match which the hosts never pitched up for and four days later AmaKhosi failed to honour the Arrows game after writing to the PSL confirming they could not they the two matches due to the Covid-19 cases in camp.
