Mokwena’s side remain undefeated in the league with the Brazilians registering four wins and a solitary draw in April.

“I’m only just the representation of the passion of the entire group and it’s important I mention that the award for me means it reflects the hard work and the contributions of everybody involved at the football club,” a delighted Mokwena said.

“From the senior management to the support staff, the ground staff, the kitchen ladies, the players especially.

“The Mamelodi Sundowns supporters who push us and support us.

“As the coach in any organisation, we are the least important people in football clubs possibly with the most important opinion.

“And it’s only fitting that my opinion in this instance is that this award belongs to the team and is dedicated to everybody involved at the club.

“And congratulations to everybody at the club and the fantastic run in a very difficult month of April with some very good games with good performances against Richards Bay, Cape Town Spurs in particular that game was very difficult away from home.

“The Sekhukhune game was a tough game, the Swallows game was even more difficult even though we surrendered a 2-0 lead.

“But I’m very proud of the group and the efforts because in amongst that was a lot of traveling and CAF Champions League games.

“So, congratulations to the technical team, especially the players,” Mokwena added.

Mokwena went on further to congratulate Chippa United’s midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba who won the Player of the Month award for April and also sent a big shoutout to Stellies coach Steve Barker and Orlando Pirates Jose Riveiro for the work they doing in their respective clubs.

“First let’s congratulate him (Kwayiba) it’s well deserved I think it reflects the amount of work that both coach Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September have done with regards to Chippa at the moment it’s incredible.

“And that reflects on the individual performances of their players.

“But also I’ve got to give a lot of comment by some of my colleagues. Who are also close to receiving the award Jose at Pirates and Steve Barker at Stellies who’ve had incredible results. And congratulate them on doing very good work for their respective clubs,” he concluded.

Mamelodi Sundowns will face Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final at Mbombela Stadium on 1 June.
