Despite Ranga Chivaviro’s early goal for Chiefs, Sundowns turned the game around with goals from Ribeiro Costa and Iqraam Rayners.

After the match, Mngqithi highlighted the positive changes Nabi has implemented at Naturena, noting the competitive spirit it has brought to the squad.

The game also sparked discussions about some contentious officiating decisions.

“I think the team (Kaizer Chiefs) looks very good, it looks refreshed, it looks energised and the structure that coach Nabi is playing with it’s very potent, it’s very difficult for teams to really understand because he has that front three that is cheating,” Mngqithi said.

Chiefs struggled last season under coach Molefi Ntseki and Cavin Johnson who replaced him which saw the club finishing 10th in the league.

The 53-year-old tactician did not hold back saying he was happy to see the new Glamour Boys, insisting they must try to always dominate in big games.

“The truth is, it’s refreshing to see a Kaizer Chiefs team that plays like this,” he added.

“They must try to dominate matches like this (big games) more because we cannot as big teams always rely on good rest attacks and counter-attacks.

“We must also try to really put our foot forward but I’m very happy with the progress that the coach (Nabi) has made in such a short space of time.”

Amakhosi are currently occupying sixth position in the league stands with six points after three games and their next match is up against SuperSport United on the 26 of October at Peter Mokaba Stadium kickoff is at 17:30.
