Chiefs were held to a goalless draw by Cape Town City in their previous DStv Premiership encounter on Saturday.

Johnson’s side will be aiming to return to winning ways to keep their slim hopes of CAF Champions League qualification alive against second-placed Stellenbosch.

“The dynamics have been different,” Johnson told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

“We haven’t had this many back-to-back games since I have been with the team. We returned from Cape Town on Saturday night and had a regeneration session at 02:00 in the morning so as to allow the players to rest all of Sunday, which is the best recovery.

“Today (Monday) we train, and we’ll be ready for tomorrow.”

Johnson remains wary of a dangerous Stellenbosch side who are undefeated in their last five league encounters under Steve Barker.

“We will need to have a better performance than on the weekend,” Johnson added.

“They are near the top of the league, and not for no reason. They are a very good side and we’ll have to have all our ducks in a row to compete with them, but they are coming to FNB Stadium and if we are not aggressive and arrogant on our own home ground then we won’t get what we are looking for.

“It is our intention to fight for every point still available in the remainder of the season. We still believe we can make it. If you don’t believe, you may as well pack it in. As Kaizer Chiefs, we’ll never do that.

“As always, the support of our fans plays a big role in inspiring the players on the field. We would love as many of our fans to come to the game and support us to show that when you play away to Kaizer Chiefs, you play against the crowd too.

“FNB Stadium must be a fortress, where no team looks forward to playing, and no team comes to win.”

Kick-off is at 19:30.
