Chiefs’ misfiring was again the centre of attention when they slumped to their 10th defeat of the DStv Premiership season.

The mighty Amakhosi went down 1-0 to Richards Bay FC at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi township.

The Soweto giants dropped out of the top eight to the 10th spot on the log with 30 points from 24 matches.

While Johnson’s men can’t claim they were the better team in the match, they created enough chances to see off the relegation-threatened Natal Rich Boyz.

Forwards Ashley du Preez, Christian Saile and Mduduzi Shabalala fumbled excellent opportunities.

Chiefs have failed to score a goal in their last four outings in the league so far, something that frustrates Johnson.

“In some moments we are all not psychologists, we are just football coaches,” Johnson told the media after the game in Durban.

“We are not psychologists, we have to look at them again and understand why this is happening, what are the combinations and why they are not having fun.

“You try to do that at your training (sessions) whereby you create many, many goalscoring opportunities whereby they can feel what it feels like (to score). But it’s still not happening,” he said.

Johnson suggested maybe a trip to the shooting range might help his troops to hit the target.

“Maybe I need to take them for gun shooting or something like that and they will be better,” Johnson said.

“But at the moment, we have to dig deep into our technical staff to see what we can do to finish our chances up front. We have to get better.

“I’m the coach and it’s very, very painful. It’s always difficult when that happens because the training is always based on finishing and when you base your training on finishing, you expect them to finish.

“And you expect them to win the goals. I’m sure most of you (media) guys know what type of a coach I am. Many coaches say the best defence wins you league titles, but I think differently. You’ve got to have the best attack to win the league.”

Amakhosi faithful will hope that their side will have worked on their issues before they host equally struggling SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday at 17:30.
