This after clinching a 2-0 triumph over SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium in the DStv Premiership showdown over the weekend.

Sinoxolo Kwayiba and Bienvenu Eva Nga found the net on either side of half-time, securing the Chilli Boys a crucial three points while compounding SuperSport’s five-match winless streak in the DStv Premiership.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Kopo commended his players for their tactical and defensive adjustments, emphasising their improved resilience. “We are much better now. We are not leaking as much as we were before,” he remarked post-game.

Despite the strides made, Kopo acknowledged the need for consistency, particularly in fine-tuning their attacking prowess. “Up front, we are getting better and better. Eva Nga had not played for a long time before we got him, so we knew it was always going to take time for him to get into the game,” he noted, highlighting the ongoing quest for balance in their forward line.

However, Kopo sees these victories as pivotal in shaping a competitive outfit for future seasons. “At the moment, we are not looking at beauty. We are looking at the points, and it’s going to look ugly many times. But we have to get those points in the bag and then we can build,” he emphasised, underscoring the pragmatic approach driving their success.

On the opposing side, SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt lamented his team’s missed opportunities, believing they should have capitalized on their dominance. “I thought it was a dominant performance, but the score-line doesn’t tell you the true picture,” Hunt expressed, expressing disappointment at squandered chances.

Acknowledging Chippa United’s resilience, Hunt accepted the defeat but emphasized the need for improvement. “We lost and we will take it on the chin. Not happy with the results for sure,” he concluded, highlighting the determination to bounce back stronger.

As Chippa United bask in their triumphs, the challenge of maintaining consistency looms large, while SuperSport United face the task of converting dominance into tangible results.
