The Natal Rich Boyz clinched a shock win over Kaizer Chiefs by a 1-0 scoreline at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday to give their survival hopes a massive boost in their fight against relegation from the DStv Premiership.

Simphiwe Mcineka scored the decisive goal to send the home crowd into delirium on Sunday.

Before adding to Chiefs’ woes, Vilakazi’s men defeated fellow Soweto giants Moroka Swallows by the same scoreline.

Despite the Durban side remaining in 15th position in the league standings,  they have now extended their lead over the Urban Warriors to eight points ahead of Friday’s clash at Athlone Stadium.

“It’s not going to be easy, playing away in Cape Town has never been easy but obviously, we just need to be consistent,” Vilakazi said.

“I just think we have the upper hand in terms of confidence because we are coming from two games that we won.

“They (Spurs) are four games without a win, so I suspect a lot of changes from the team and stuff like that because they are looking for solutions.

“We will try and capitalise on their weaknesses and make sure that we fine-tune our offensive play in terms of converting the chances that we create,” he said.

The Ernst Middendorp-coached Spurs have gone six matches without a win and another defeat could prove significant in extinguishing any hopes of survival.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
