NEWS: ‘You can see where he’s going with this project’ – Willard Katsande on Kaizer Chiefs’ Nasreddine Nabi

The Soweto giants have struggled to win silverware for nine years, with their last major triumph dating back to the 2014/15 season when they clinched the league title, a campaign in which Katsande played a crucial role.

‘Salt and Vinegar’ believes that for the Tunisian tactician to succeed, he needs the backing of both the fans and club legends.

“Can we see where he’s going with this project? Because this project, it’s big and needs a lot of patience. Like where Sundowns is, everybody’s enjoying them right now,” Katsande said on Arena Sports Show.

“Sundowns won the star (CAF Champions League). All the players are not there anymore, but Sundowns are still competitive.

“It’s because of continuity. They have a good structure. Also, they’re not like, one, two, three, four, two, they are, no, we lost go.

“No, we’re starting again. This new technical team that is there, it starts with us, legends. When we’re sitting on this kind of platform, can we be supportive of this team?

“Can we have constructive criticism? Let’s not just because I’m here, I’m not here with this.

“Then you hit the neck and we start again from the toes again. We need to build because even if you can see where he’s going (Nabi), can we go in January and review where he’s going?

“The only thing I’m going to say to coach, can he have a short-term goal, which is to try to win us a trophy, to rub the cabinet and start putting something.

“Then the league, can you get us that far? Because he’s starting, but when after four transfer windows, now we’re looking like the way you’re going.”
