Masandawana are still in contention for the Nedbank Cup and they already have the African Football League in the bag. Downs are paired with Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.

As the Tshwane giants go up against TS Galaxy on Monday night, Downs will aim to continue their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership, looking to become the first South African outfit to go the entire season unbeaten.

Sundowns host The Rockets at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, kick-off is scheduled for 19:30.

Mosa Lebusa, who is one of the senior players at Chloorkop, admitted that the Champions League exit cut deep but insists he and his teammates have patched themselves up and are raring to go against The Rockets.

“Coming from the Champions League exit, the mood is a bit low but in the team, we have a 24-hour rule and that has passed, so we are looking forward to the next game where we have to redeem ourselves as we have the league to play for.

“We were sad after exiting the Champions League but now we picked up ourselves and we have to finish the league,” said Lebusa.

This tie has all the ingredients of a feisty affair, given the relations between head coaches Rulani Mokwena and Sead Ramovic.

The two had a heated exchange in the media, where the latter accused Mokwena of dropping F*** bombs in a phone call. Mokwena then hit back by suggesting that his counterpart is an attention seeker

Be that as it may, Lebusa is certain that the technical has crossed all the t’s and dotted the i’s in preparation for what is expected to be a grudge game.

“We are playing against a good side that is in very good form. They are one of the teams that we have not played in the league. They are slowly climbing up on the log and mathematically, they can still catch up.

“But I don’t think it is possible for them to do that because we have to redeem ourselves. You know what happens to a wounded animal. We have to go out and attack so that we get maximum points and look forward to the next one,” the veteran defender explained.

“The whole team can cause trouble, but we don’t focus on individuals and we have to be wary of them as a whole team, but obviously, there are certain individuals who have to keep a close eye on.

“We know that the hearts of our supporters are broken but we hope that they can come to the stadium to cheer us up and give us energy in the league games that are remaining,” he added.
