Mamelodi Sundowns stretched their lead at the top to 19 points following their 2-1 victory in Mbombela against TS Galaxy on Tuesday evening.

The Brazilians opened the scoring from a well taken Gaston Sirino corner which was headed in by Rushine De Reuck in the 11th minute. De Reuck had to be substituted immediately after suffering a concussion after scoring.

Sundowns dominated play throughout and were rewarded again in the 64th minute when Peter Shalulile tapped into an open net to make it 2-0. Shalulile goal was his 8th of the season, taking him top of the scoring chart.

Galaxy pushed themselves in the second half and had a penalty awarded in optional time which was coolly converted by Traore.

Golden Arrows moved away from the relegation zone following a 3-2 win over Marumo Gallants in KwaMashu’s Princess Magogo Stadium.

Gallants scored first from a rebound after Celimpilo Ngema missed his initial penalty kick. Arrows came back stronger in the second half and midfielder Nqobeko Dlamini found the equalizer.

The visitors went through a ‘deep sleep’ and Arrows capitalized on it. Knox Mutizwa grabbed an assist to Pule Mmodi and a goal to give Arrows a comfortable 3-1 lead.

In the final 15 minutes Gallants pushed to get something out of the game but found Arrows keeper, Mlungwana, in a mood as he kept denying ‘Bahlabane Ba ntwa’ from close range.

The Limpopo side got the second goal from a corner with Zimbabwean marksman Chavaviro netting his 4th of the season.

Golden Arrows have Royal AM, Chippa and Stellies [24] in the worst defensive record in the league so far and are joint 2nd top scorers [21] in the league. They also share the most number of defeats this season [8] in the league with Gallants, Royal AM & Swallows.

The co-coaches will look to find a balance going to the weekend fixtures while Gallants coach, Dan Malesela will remain worried about his sides log position as fixtures come in thick fast.
