The feud between Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena and his TS Galaxy counterpart Sead Ramovic has taken a different twist, with Galaxy threatening legal action against the Masandawana boss.

Two women looking excitedly at cellphone

This after Mokwena alleged that Ramovic instructed his players to intentionally injure Sundowns’ Bongani Zungu during the DStv Premiership match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Monday. Sundowns won the game 3-0.

This was to be executed as an act of revenge after Zungu’s horror tackle on Bernard Parker that left the veteran striker with a broken leg last year.

On Monday, Galaxy’s Orebotse Mongae received a straight red after his challenge from behind forced the midfielder off the pitch.

“I’m disappointed with the tackle on Bongani Zungu,” Rulani told SuperSport TV post-match.

“I’m very disappointed because I was told already last night that the coach of the opposition showed the tackle that Bongani Zungu made on Bernard Parker to his players and said don’t forget what Bongani Zungu did.

“I am very disappointed, as these things happen and I can say again for a fact that Zungu’s tackle can happen in any other game, anywhere as I’ve seen worse tackles.

“We’ve even got Nassir (Abubeker Nassir) out injured, but we’ve forgiven and we’ve moved on.

“Because it’s a contact sport, but when we go and intentionally try to injure players and we send out these sorts of things, it’s a bit disappointing at a professional level.”

In a hard-hitting statement, Galaxy accused Mokwena of lying through his teeth and gave him 24 hours to prove his statement or face legal action.

“TS Galaxy FC takes serious exception to the comments made by Masandawana coach Rhulani Mokoena (sic), insinuating that our Head Coach instigated the injury suffered by Sundowns player Bongani Zungu during our match last night,” reads the statement on the club’s X page.

“Mokoena lied blatantly through his teeth which we deem to be a serious embarrassment to our game, never mind the Club that he represents.

“If Mokoena still believes in his own lies, we are now calling him out publicly to prove his claim within 24 hours, failing which our Club and our Coach will assert their rights in law!”
