Senegal coach Aliou Cisse has named his 23-man provisional squad for the World Cup in Russia next month.

Senegal will be making their second appearance at the global showpiece having reached the quarter-finals in the 2002 edition of the tournament.

The squad is headlined by Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, who has been impressive for the Reds this season and is preparing for next weekend’s Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Cheikhou Kouyate of West Ham and Kalidou Koulibaly are among other high profile players that have made the squad.

Everton forward Oumar Niasse is the noticeable omission from the team and misses out alongside Pape Souare of Crystal Palace.

Niasse has featured in 22 games for Everton in the English Premier League scoring eight goals.

The forward was also involved in his country’s last friendly match having played 66 minutes against Uzbekistan in March.

The West African country is in Group H alongside Colombia, Poland and Japan. They will start their campaign with a match against Poland.

They will play Luxembourg and Croatia in two friendly matches leading to the World Cup.
