Serie A: Week 32 Preview

Written by Aaron Crowie for @HollywoodbetsFollow them both on Twitter and Facebook now!

It looks as though defending champions Juventus are heading for a fifth consecutive Serie A title after Napoli faltered last weekend, going down 3-1 at Udinese. The Old Lady are now six points clear at the summit of the table, but face a daunting task this weekend when they face AC Milan at the famous San Siro Stadium. Napoli will look to return to winning ways with a pretty straight forward encounter against bottom-of-the-log Hellas Verona, whilst high-flying Roma are proving unstoppable at present, they should have little issue seeing off Bologna.

Last weekend saw seven of the 10 match-ups produce Over 2.5 Goals, as well as the Both Teams To Score market. It’s not to say the same will happen this weekend, but it’s a guideline as to where you could place your precious money.

Let’s find out what gameweek 32 has in store for us.

SATURDAY 9 APRIL

Frosinone 9/2 | Draw 3/1 | Inter Milan 6/10

We kick-start the weekend with relegation-candidates Frosinone hosting Inter Milan. Frosinone currently lie 19th on the log, with just one win from their last six games, including a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Genoa last time out. Inter were disappointing last weekend as Torino left the San Siro with a well-deserved win. Inter have lacked a cutting edge all season, and it’s starting to show in the results. However, both teams are looking dull at present; low on confidence as well as goals. But both teams still have plenty to play for this season. A cagey affair is likely, while the Under 2.5 Goals is the predicted outcome at 9/10.

Chievo 5/4  | Draw 21/10 | Carpi 5/2

Chievo impressed last time out with 3-1 victory on home soil over Palermo, making it back-to-back wins for Rolando Maran’s men. The win takes the Flying Donkeys to 41 points, which ensures their status in the top-flight for yet another season. Relegation-threatened Carpi are up next up, but their 3-1 home defeat against Sassuolo last time out might have taken confidence out of the team. However, prior to that defeat, they had won consecutive matches, which shows they have a bit of fight in them. Chievo aren’t much of an attacking team, and Carpi’s 29 goals in 31 matches proves they aren’t either. Follow the Under 2.5 Goals market again at 11/20 and reap the rewards.

Sassuolo 1/1 | Draw 23/10 | Genoa 28/10

Sassuolo strengthened their pursuit of a top-six Serie A finish with a 3-1 victory away to Carpi. The three points gained takes them to within one of sixth-placed AC Milan, who retain a superior goal difference in contention for European football with seven league fixtures to play. Genoa have been terrible away from home, as they have lost 10 of their 15 travels. However, they have been in great form in recent weeks, winning four of their last six games, including a 4-0 victory at home against Frosinone last weekend. With Sassuolo and Genoa finding the back of the net on a regular basis, Both Teams To Score is well worth a punt at 9/10.

AC Milan 28/10 | Draw  22/10 | Juventus 21/20

In what is undoubtedly the match of the weekend in Italy, AC Milan will welcome Juventus to the San Siro looking to return to winning ways. The Rossoneri fell to a disappointing 2-1 loss at Atalanta last Sunday, stretching their run without a win to four matches. Juventus edged Empoli 1-0 last time out. It may have been a marginal victory, but a win is a win. The Old Lady are unbeaten in the league since October last year, a run of 21 matches, including 20 victories. Juve have won the last six meetings against AC Milan, and are tipped to build on that.

SUNDAY 10 APRIL

Empoli 2/1 | Draw 9/4 | Fiorentina 14/10

A lunch-time kick-off on Sunday pits Empoli up against European hopefuls Fiorentina. Empoli are without a win in their last 12 league games and will be desperate to turn that poor form around. Fiorentina are winless in their last five matches following their 1-1 stalemate against Sampdoria last Sunday. However, that form is bound to change, and judging by their impressive 14-match unbeaten record against their opponents, Fiorentina might just knick the win here. Back the Viola to come away with maximum points.

Napoli 2/9 | Draw 52/10 | Hellas Verona 10/1

Gonzalo Higuaín scored his 30th league goal of the season but was later sent off and had to be restrained by his team-mates as Napoli lost 3-1 at Udinese last Sunday, severely denting their Serie A title hopes. Hellas Verona maintained their slim hopes of avoiding the drop to Serie B with a 1-0 away win over Bologna on Monday night. Samir Santos’ goal three minutes before half-time was enough to earn Hellas only their first victory on the road and their third win of a dismal campaign, leaving them six points behind 17th-placed Carpi. However, Napoli are unbeaten at home with 12 wins from 15 games and are tipped on the Matchbet Win + Both Teams To Score at 15/10.

Sampdoria 11/10  | Draw 23/10 | Udinese 26/10

Relegation-threatened Sampdoria and Udinese will lock horns on Sunday afternoon looking to boost their chances of survival. Sampdoria are coming off a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Fiorentina, whilst Udinese fought bravely at home against 10-man Napoli to claim a hard-earned 3-1 victory. They are just one point above their opponents in 15th place on the log with 34 points. However, getting down to business; five of the last six meetings between the sides have seen Over 2.5 Goals. Follow the trend at 21/20.

Torino 9/10 | Draw 24/10 | Atalanta 33/10

Torino are off the back of an impressive come-from-behind 2-1 win away to Inter Milan. The victory breaks a run of five matches without a win. Atalanta come to town following a 2-1 home victory over AC Milan, making it back-to-back wins for La Dea. Torino have managed just five wins from 16 matches on their ground, whilst Atalanta have scored only eight goals in 15 travels. Torino are positioned 11th on the log with 36 points, and are only above 13th placed Atalanta on goal-difference. The Under 2.5 Goals market is tipped at 6/10.

27/10 Palermo | Draw 24/10 | Lazio 21/20

Palermo will look to shake off their horrendous form that they have displayed in recent weeks when they tackle Lazio in the last match of the weekend. The Eagles are without a win in their last 10 games and are in danger of relegation. Lazio will try their best to take advantage of this weak and vulnerable team, but their current form doesn’t bode well on the betting front either. They have managed just two wins from their last eight matches, and are coming off a 4-1 thrashing from city-rivals Roma. Former Lazio striker Simone Inzaghi has replaced Stefano Pioli as manager following Sunday’s heavy derby defeat to Roma. Palermo’s players will be fighting for survival, while the Lazio players will be looking to make an impression on their new manager. Take Both Teams To Score at 8/10.

MONDAY 11 APRIL
Roma 4/10 | Draw 36/10 | Bologna 15/2

Roma’s winning form continued last Sunday after hammering city-rivals Lazio 4-1. Thousands of fans boycotted the match at the Stadio Olimpico over increased security measures as Roma extended their unbeaten league run to 10 games. Bologna has lost three straight matches and is winless in six, but the team coached by Roberto Donadoni remains mid-table after a disappointing 1-0 defeat on home soil against bottom-dwellers Hellas Verona. Roma are buzzing and beating teams with ease in the process – back them on the Halftime/Fulltime Double at 19/20.
