Tempting Ten-Fold Preview (5-7 May)

Top-Ten-Top-Tips

Our writer gives his top ten top tips from all the best football leagues around the world.

In the last edition of the Tempting Ten-Fold, I predicted seven out of 10 winners and if all had to come in at a staggering 1696/1, I would have looked like a genius! But as luck would have it, I fell three short. It goes to show, however, there is plenty of value to be found and with the football season edging closer to the end, I’m determined to make a bit of cash in these last few weeks.

Friday 5 May

Spanish La Liga

Sevilla 7/10 | Draw 29/10 | Real Sociedad 33/10
It’s fourth versus seventh as Sevilla welcome Real Sociedad to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in La Liga action. Both teams have been in decent touch this season relatively speaking. Sevilla have been excellent at home this term winning 13, drawing three and losing just once. They’ll be keen to bounce back from a poor defeat away at Malaga last week.

It won’t be easy against Eusebio Sacristan’s Basque raiders, who have been magnificent on the road this term, winning nine of their 17 away games this season. Both sides have been excellent going forward recently while remaining defensively vulnerable at times. Get on Both Teams To Score at 11/20.

Saturday 6 May

English Premier League

Bournemouth 23/20 | Draw 24/10 | Stoke 22/10
Eddie Howe and his brave Cherries have been outstanding this term, even when some were hinting at a bout of second season syndrome for the South Coast club. They’ll welcome Stoke to Dean Court on Saturday where their fans will demand nothing less than three points, such has been their recent form.

The Potters away form of late has been nothing short of dreadful. Mark Hughes’ charges have lost four and drawn one of their last five away league matches, conceding nine times without scoring. That trend looks as though it’s set to continue. Get on the Cherries to grab all three points at a tasty 23/20.

German Bundesliga

Eintracht Frankfurt 31/20 | Draw 9/4 | Wolfsburg 17/10
We’re off to Germany next where Eintracht Frankfurt go up against relegation-threatened Wolfsburg at the Commerzbank-Arena. The hosts – who sit comfortably mid-table – will be confident of bagging three points against the team with the worst form line in the Bundesliga.

There really isn’t much else to say about this match other than Wolfsburg come into the tie off the back of a 6-0 hammering against Bayern while Eintracht endured a narrow 1-0 defeat against Hoffenheim. Take the home side on the double-chance here, it offers decent value at 9/20.

Italian Serie A

Juventus 5/10 | Draw 7/2 | Torino 9/2
With Juve just a few points away from making it six league titles on the trot, they will do all they can to make sure they collect maximum points until the job is complete. A 2-2 draw at Atalanta last time out might have extended their wait for the title by another week but the Old Lady will return to their fortress where they have won all 17 of their home games.

It’s derby day at the Juventus Stadium with Torino looking to be the first team to take points off the Old Lady in Turin. Torino are unbeaten in their last six games but four of those ended in a draw. The home win is too good a bet to pass up this week.

French Ligue 1

Toulouse 23/20 | Draw 23/10 | Caen 47/20
Toulouse will take on Caen on Saturday evening with both teams struggling to find form. The home side have, however, been better off, earning back-to-back draws against Nice (1-1) and Marseille (0-0).

Relegation-threatened Caen are without a win in their last eight matches, including six defeats, as well as a 5-1 thumping on home soil at the hands of Marseille last time out. This one should go down to the wire but Toulouse are tipped to make home advantage count.

Turkish Super Lig

Galatasaray 5/10 | Draw 7/2 | Kasimpasa 9/2
We head to Turkey next, where Galatasaray prepare for battle against Kasimpasa. The Lions will come into this encounter on a high and full of confidence after humbling Bursaspor 5-0 in front of their own fans.

Kasimpasa will look to get back to winning ways following a run of four matches without a victory, including two defeats and two draws. Galatasaray are unbeaten in the last five meetings against Kasimpasa, claiming four wins. The home win is on the cards.

South African PSL

Kaizer Chiefs 6/10 | Draw 24/10 | Golden Arrows 5/1
We cast an eye on the local football scene next as Kaizer Chiefs welcome Golden Arrows to the FNB Stadium. Chiefs have been solid enough this term, briefly mounting a serious title challenge before fading away in disappointing fashion.

Arrows on the other hand, have done well to consolidate their position in the league following promotion from the NFD a few seasons ago. The Glamour Boys are undefeated in their last five home games while Arrows have lost their last three away outings. The Soweto giants should easily have the measure of their opposition this weekend – 6/10 looks an absolute steal!

Sunday 7 May

Portuguese Primeira Liga

Sporting Lisbon 2/9 | Draw 47/10 | Belenenses 10/1
Sporting will welcome Belenenses to the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Sunday evening. The hosts are unbeaten in their last 11 with nine victories. They have been sensational on home soil with 11 wins from 15 matches and that form looks more than likely to continue.

Belenenses have been dreadful in recent weeks with four losses on the spin, while they have lost their last three matches away from home. The head-to-head stats don’t help the matter either, with Sporting winning the last three meetings between the sides. Back the home side on the Halftime/Fulltime win at 13/20.

Dutch Eredivisie

Ajax 1/14 | Draw 9/1 | GA Eagles 25/1
This is a must win game for Ajax, who slipped up last week, going down 1-0 at PSV. Feyenoord are now just a victory away from lifting the title but in football, anything is possible, so Jax need to make sure against a poor travelling Eagles side.

The home side have been strong on their ground with 13 wins from 16 matches and have won four of their last five league games at the Amsterdam ArenA by three or more goals. Ajax will come out all guns blazing, making the 1st Half Totals – Over 1.5 Goals – an eye-catching bet at 7/10.

South African NFD

Cape Town All Stars 28/10 | Draw 22/10 | Thanda Roya Zulu 9/10
From the start of the season, the NFD has been nothing short of spectacular. At the moment, the are still an abundance of teams involved in the relegation dogfight, while plenty are still in with a chance of the PSL play-off places.

Cape Town All Stars are one of those fighting for survival and to their bad luck face the newly crowned league champions Thanda Royal Zulu. Nonetheless, the Capetonians have more at stake and sometimes when a team’s backs are against the wall, bravery and greatness shines through.

All Stars are unbeaten in their last 11 home games and with the Durbanites still in cloud nine after their league triumph, the Capetonians might just catch Thanda off guard. This is too much value to be ignored, with Cape Town All Stars tipped to grind out a victory at a colossal 28/10!
