The Sharks won their eighth Currie Cup title and their first since 2013 when they came from behind to beat the Western Province to lift the 2018 Currie Cup trophy.
An unbeaten Western Province team were extreme favourites in the repeat of the 2017 Currie Cup final. Western Province led 6 – 0 at the end of the first half through SP Marais, but the Sharks held their nerve to score 17 points to the hosts 6 in the second half. .
The Sharks kept the ball very well throughout the match and used their strong forwards wisely to change the tempo of the game. With big performances from Akker van der Merwe, Chilliboy Ralepelle, and the trio of du Preez brothers, the Sharks won the 2018 Currie Cup final 17 – 12.
