Borussia Dortmund advanced to the last four of the UEFA Champions League with an incredible 4-2 win to clinch a 5-4 aggregate victory in a thrilling quarter-final tie at the Signal Iduna Park.

Borussia Dortmund advanced to the last four of the UEFA Champions League with an incredible 4-2 win to clinch a 5-4 aggregate victory in a thrilling quarter-final tie at Signal Iduna Park.

Heading into the second-leg tie with a 2-1 Atletico lead, Dortmund grabbed two quick-fire goals through Julian Brandt and Ian Maatsen over a five-minute span to spark the contest into life.

Atletico then grabbed the advantage in a see-saw encounter as Mats Hummels scored an own goal in the 49th minute before Angel Correa fired in his effort from close range in the 64th minute.

With the aggregate score 3-2 in favour of Diego Simeone’s side, Dortmund scored two late goals to turn the tie on its head in front of their bouncing home fans.

Niclas Fullkrug scored a textbook glancing header from a Marcel Sabitzer cross in the 71st minute.

Before the former Manchester United midfielder went from provider to scorer when he hit a low left-footed drive past Jan Oblak just three minutes later.

The German side will now face Kylian Mbappe’s Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals. As Manchester City take on Real Madrid, and fellow German side Bayern Munich battle it out with Arsenal for the two remaining spots for a spot in the last four.
