Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Paul REEVES

There are plenty of unraced juveniles in this opening contest and the betting market will be a good indicator. The clear first pick of the raced runners is FOREVER ALERT from the Paul Reeves yard. This daughter of Var found longshot betting support when she produced a promising debut over 1100m on this track, four weeks ago. She showed lots of speed before being outrun late by a smart sort and that form was given a boost when the 3rd placed finisher won her subsequent outing. This bay filly should make natural improvement and her experience will stand her in good stead.

Race 2: OVAR(2)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER - Trainer: Yogas GOVENDER

There are some speedy sorts in this maiden event and that will result in an exciting finish. OVAR has shown promise in his four outings to date and he was outrun late over this c & d last time, by a decent sort who finished a creditable 2nd at handicap level, next time out.

Jockey: Corne ORFFER - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

SAINT MARY is a lightly raced mare whose conditioner seems to have worked out her best distance. The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor was a gutsy debut winner over this c & d at the start of the season but could only produce fair efforts over ground in four successive attempts. However, she bounced right back to form when she stayed on for a good 2nd over this c & d in her latest start and she should go close here.

Jockey: Grant V/NIEKERK - Trainer: Mike BASS

Only eight runners go to post for this competitive handicap and the lightly weighted pair of TOMBA LA BOMBA and PLAYINGTHEENEMY renew their rivalry and could again dominate the finish, despite taking on much stronger. This pairing clashed at a much lower level when the latter drew off to record a length and a half victory over this c & d, four weeks ago. The former is only 0.5kg better off but he does have more scope and his light mass of 52kgs will make a real difference this time around. He certainly has the class to reverse the form with his conqueror.

Race 6: MUSICAL MAN(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Corne ORFFER - Trainer: Piet STEYN

MUSICAL MAN has improved his formline in recent starts and he should have finished closer in a similar event over this c & d, three weeks ago. Still, that was a commendable performance from the son of Horse Chestnut who was having his second outing inside three days. He deserved his subsequent three week break and should be a force here.
