Race 6

With the four late scratchings, one of which was his main rival, the door may have been opened for today’s best bet, DASHING ‘N’ DARING to record his sixth career victory. He had his consistency rewarded with a 0.8L win last time out over seven furlongs, despite being hampered at the start. He was returning from 14-week rest that day and jumps from gate six today. He could prove difficult to topple here. LOCHITA is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She followed up her penultimate run victory over the mile with a fourth-place finish next time out over six furlongs, just under two lengths behind the winner when returning from a lengthy 37-week absence. She goes back to what appears to be a more suitable distance and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. Her handy draw four will do her no harm. GO GADGET is drawn one inside the latter and steps up in distance after finishing sixth last time out over 1300M, two and a half lengths behind the victor. He made good late progress that day, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking.

Race 7

FRONTLINE won both of his barrier trials before going on to win by almost a length on debut over 1100M. The form of that race has been franked and he could be almost anything. He will have to negotiate gate seven, but he seems likely to turn in another decent effort to complete his double. COMMANDO HUNT has cracked pole position and showed solid improvement in his penultimate start over 1100m, then followed that up with a one and a half-length win next time out over 1300M. He jumped awkwardly that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging. SOLVA showed the expected improvement after finishing fifth on debut over five furlongs to win at the second time of asking over 1100M by a half-length, this despite coming the widest into the home straight. He has gate eight and should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 8

DYNAMIC IMPACT has made steady improvement in his last three runs, culminating with a win over six furlongs last time out. He put four and a half lengths between himself and the opposition that day after hitting the front at the 200M mark and was not sight from there. He jumps from gate seven and on that last performance, he looks to have more to offer. FIRE DRAGON is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has only had the two runs to date, finishing sixth on debut over 1300M and then winning next time out by a head over the same c&d when returning from a 25-week break. She has drawn gate three and is sure to give the boys a good run for their money. LAND OF VALENS’ last three runs have been over six furlongs, finishing fourth last time out, just over two lengths back from the winner. He lost third place on an objection that day, but he has his peak run here and will be looking to make amends here, notwithstanding facing gate nine.

Race 9

MISCHIEF MANAGED is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she has won two of her last three runs, both over this five-furlong sprint, the latest by a short-head. She finished well that day to get up to win in the shadow of the post. She will jump from gate four and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. As such, she is taken to be the value bet on the program. ROCKETING BY returns from a 12-week rest, but did win his only barrier trial to prove this well-being. He drops in trip after his last two starts over 1100M, but he did win over this trip three runs back, so this should not be an issue. He faces a wide gate eleven, but he should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up. SNITZARI is another 3yr filly who has her first run after a longer 20-week break, but she finished third and then won the last of her two barrier trials. She won her penultimate outing over five furlongs by one length and then ended up fourth in her next start over the same c&d, 4.4L adrift of the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire that day and given that style of racing, she may not be troubled by her wide gate twelve. She should be included in all bets.
