Race 5

SAHRA is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys and returns from a 17-week rest but has had the benefit of a barrier trial. She has only had the three runs to date, winning on debut over five furlongs and then finishing second next time out over 1100M, two and a half lengths behind the winner, but the form of that race has been franked and from her handy draw four, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card. BONDI BLUE has put in three solid recent runs, culminating with his maiden win last time out over six furlongs. He has his first run for his new trainer and will have to deal with a wideish draw eight, but if he has settled into his new surroundings, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. THUDSON stayed on well when showing marked improvement to finish second in his last outing over five furlongs, just over a length back from the winner when returning from a 14-week break. He is drawn one inside the latter and should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

AYEMGEE is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys and has her first run after a 36-week break, but did finish third in her only barrier trial to prove her well-being. She finished second on debut over 1100M, just under a length behind the winner and two runners from that race have subsequently come out and won. She has gate two and could be the one to side with here. GLOCK returns from a 17-week rest and has had two barrier trials, winning one and finishing second in the other. He drops back in distance after finishing sixth last time out over seven furlongs and could do better as a result, jumping from gate five. AFFILATE is another 3yr old filly. She has her first start since a 22-week break and two barrier trials. She is drawn one outside the latter and could improve on her ninth-place finish last time out over six furlongs. There are two unraced runners in the field who have both had multiple-barrier trials, so keep an eye on the betting to see whether the connections fancy their chances of winning first time out.

Race 7

SAVACOOL is a 6yr old mare taking on males. She drops back to the mile after her last two outings over ten furlongs, where she overraced early in the latest start before ending up just over two and a half lengths back from the winner. She will have to negotiate draw nine, but she should appreciate the drop in trip. ARCHEDEMUS was a tad disappointing when finishing seventh last time out over seven furlongs, but he battled all the way down to the wire in his penultimate outing over the same distance and a repeat of that effort would suggest that he should have no issue getting the extra distance today to challenge the top pick. LOOKS LIKE ELVIS is another who was below par last time out when seventh over the mile, but a repeat of his penultimate start when 1.6L off the winner over this same journey, despite racing keenly and coming four wide into the straight, would see him right up there in the firing line.

Race 8

FASTCONI followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a fourth-place finish next time out over seven furlongs. He overraced in the middle stages that day and understandably had nothing to come over the latter stages, but if settling here, he could be the one that they all have to beat, notwithstanding his gate seven. SEA ECHO tried to go from jump to wire before finishing 10th last time out over 1250M, 3.8L behind the winner. He hung to the outside of the track that day, but if keeping to a straight line today, he could challenge for top spot. THE EMPIRE has won two of his last three outings over seven furlongs, the latest by a head. He hit the front as they entered the home straight that day and then held off all challengers over the closing stages. He will have to deal with draw nine, but he is likely to appreciate the drop in trip here.

Race 9

With the late scratchings of two of her main rivals, the way may have been cleared for today’s value bet, DONNACHIARA to chalk up her fourth career victory. She is a 4yr old filly taking on boys, but she is seldom far off the action and did win her last start over nine furlongs. She only saw daylight at the 300M mark that day, but still managed to mow down the opposition to win going away. Her draw three will do her no harm. TAMPERING has finished second in his last two outings and made good late progress in his latest run over the nine-furlong journey to end up just over a length behind the winner. He will have to overcome gate nine out of thirteen, but nevertheless must be considered a big threat to the former. STICK ‘EM UP on the other hand has cracked pole position. She is a 4yr old filly who has made steady improvement in her last two runs, the latest when just under four lengths back from the victor over a mile. She stayed on well that day and has her peak run here after returning from an 18-week break. On that last effort, she should have little issue with the step up in trip and should be included in all bets.
